Hyderabad: Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) Managing Director NVS Reddy stated that various survey works required for the preparation of DPRs for JBS to Medchal (24 km) and JBS to Shamirpet (21 km) metro corridors are in full swing.

He revealed that three types of studies are mainly required for the preparation of DPRs: traffic survey, geotechnical investigation, and environmental impact assessment.

The study related to the traffic survey will examine many factors, such as the current number of daily trips taking place in these corridors, the estimates of future daily trips, the turns at junctions to various locations, the number of pedestrians, the time taken for vehicle trips, the percentage of vehicle trips that are likely to be converted to Metro Rail, and the travel density at the locations where various Metro stations will be set up, said NVS Reddy.

He said the project's environmental impact study will examine factors such as the current air quality along these routes, the percentage of dust particles in the air, the identification of pollutants, noise pollution, water resources, biodiversity of flora and fauna, and the impact of the project on livelihoods.

NVS Reddy said that since HMDA and the National Highways Agency have already undertaken some land capacity studies, the Metro is now conducting these land capacity tests at 25 locations on the JBS-Medchal route and 19 locations on the JBS-Shamirpet route.

He stated that tests have already been completed at 14 locations on the Medchal route and 11 locations on the Shamirpet route, and these tests will be completed at all locations by the end of this month.

HAML MD NVS Reddy further mentioned that all precautions are being taken to construct these metro corridors so that people can travel smoothly without any inconvenience.

As per the orders of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, all these studies will be completed, and the DPRs of these three metro lines, including the Shamshabad Airport - Future City route, will be submitted to the state government for approval by the end of this month, he said.

After obtaining the state government's approval, the DPRs will be submitted to the Union government, Metro MD NVS Reddy revealed.
